Wolverine Review. Good times.

alright, so last night, well very early this morning I got to see the midnight showing of X-men Origins, Wolverine.

There's only three reason you go to a midnight show of any movie.

1. You're a hardcore geek, and you just have to be the first to see it.

2. You're really bored and there's nothing else to do.

3. or you want to be submerged in the movie and refuse to go when the theater will be full of screaming babies and parents who are too dumb to hire a gosh damn babysitter.

Me...I was going for a bit of all three...mainly the number one reason.

so...I went, Phillip, Gavin, Shannon and myself got tickets and met at the Block to watch the next installment from the X-Men universe, hoping beyond hope that we wouldn't be as disappointed about this movie as we were when we watched the almighty failure that was X-Men 3.

LAME

moving on.

So the movie opens with Wolerine's childhood and the first time he sees his trademark claws. Then it quickly...and I do mean QUICKLY...moves you thru his teenage years and into adulthood, with his brother at his side. His brother turns out to be another mutant....remember the other furry mutant from X-Men 1 that liked to fight Wolverine alot?

....yeah...that dude. Sabertooth

anyway....shows his brother's decent into being feral, for lack of a better word, and where Wolverine learns to have compassion...a sense of morals.

Anyhow...it also moves into some really fast paced fight scenes, a few actions pieces and some truly epic battles.

I don't wanna break this down too much, so I'm gonna list some pros and cons.

we'll start with the bad stuff first.

Cons.

You'd have to be a pretty hard core X-men fan to recognize some of the mutants

The mutant Deadpool is seriously down played, and it sucks.

Some/ but not all of the special effects are pretty choppy.

It was really SHORT. under 2 hours. At times the movie felt rushed.

Pros.

Gambit FINALLY makes an appearance. Geez, only take four movies for someone to use one of the most popular characters in X-Men.

Wolverine's backstory is not what I had envisioned, but it was certainly entertaining as well as amusing.

Some/ but not all of the special effects are pretty cool

XAVIER LIVES!!! Take that X-3, you failed piece of film!!!

Yeah....theres a lot more to it, overall, I'm just trying to write something basic. Anyhow....

Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10....with 1 being "omg...my eyes are bleeding!!!" and 10 being "holy shit, this had better win a oscar!!!"  I give it a 6 or a 7....which in my book means: "Well...it was good. I liked some of it...but at the same time, I don't know if I'd see it again in theaters. Rent worthy? hell yes. But I don't think I'm gonna spend another $10 on it. Don't regret going either."

yeah...that pretty much sums it up.

Well...I hope all of you have fun watching it. it is pretty sweet. enjoy.

p.s did anyone else know there's a actual CIRCUS at the block behind Ron Jon's old location now? I'm not kidding...there's a huge ass circus tent back there....I saw ponies. weird place for a circus.....
